Dr. Jamie Levin is the Tanenbaum Chair in Peace and Conflict<\/a> at the Brian Mulroney Institute of Government<\/span><\/a> and an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science<\/a><\/span>\u00a0at\u00a0St. Francis Xavier<\/a><\/span> University in Nova Scotia and a Research Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Security and Development<\/em>. <\/i><\/span><\/a>Dr. Levin earned his PhD in Political Science<\/a><\/span>\u00a0at the\u00a0University of Toronto<\/a><\/span>\u00a0and an MsC from the\u00a0London School of Economics<\/a><\/span>. His work focuses on peacekeeping and the role of weapons in the resolution of civil wars. Dr. Levin’s research explores how weapons can be a stabilizing force in the resolution of conflict and how peacekeepers contribute to democratization. Previously, Dr. Levin was a Post Doctoral Fellow at the\u00a0Henry M. Jackson<\/a><\/span> School of International Studies\u00a0at the\u00a0University of Washington<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace<\/a><\/span>\u00a0at the\u00a0Hebrew University of Jerusalem. <\/span><\/a>His work has been published in both the academic press and popular media, including: Journal of Peace Research<\/a><\/em>,<\/span> Foreign Policy<\/a><\/em>,<\/span> International Peacekeeping<\/a><\/em>,\u00a0International Politics<\/a>,\u00a0International Studies Review<\/a>,\u00a0the Palestine Israel Journal<\/a>,\u00a0Harper\u2019s Magazine<\/a>,\u00a0the Washington Post\u2019s Monkey Cage<\/a>,\u00a0the Walrus<\/a>,\u00a0Policy Options<\/a>, Haaretz<\/a>,\u00a0the Jerusalem Post<\/a>,\u00a0the Toronto Star<\/a>, <\/em>and\u00a0the National Post.<\/a>\u00a0<\/em><\/span>Dr. Levin has frequently appeared on CBC Radio<\/span><\/a> to provide commentary on the Arab-Israeli conflict and has been invited to consult on matters of global instability and security for the Foreign Policy Research and Planning Division of Global Affairs Canada<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
